Classic Barn Restoration

The roots of our Houses and Barns' craftsmen are in barn restoration, so this project holds a special place in our hearts. We rescued this barn’s timber frame, which dates back to the early 1800s, from a farm in rural Maine. The original structure looked pretty dilapidated at first glance, but we were able to salvage nearly all the frame. Once the recovered portion was cleaned, repaired, and erected, we added the new sheathing, roofing, and doors. Authentic timber frame design elements were added to enhance the barn’s visual appeal without compromising its traditional appearance. Now that this distinctive barn has been restored to its original condition, we have no doubt that it will be enjoyed for many more generations.
